I lost 9 lbs. my first week on the Hilton Head Over-35 Diet, 6 lbs. the second week and 4 lbs. the third week. The meals were delicious. I did follow the menu plan. I felt wonderful: Light and full of energy. I was very much impressed with the immediate results and they are long-lasting. You will not gain back the weight you lose when you resume normal eating. He includes a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and some meat in this well-thought-out plan. Exercise is also key in this diet, but all you have to do is walk...The menus and recipes are a little tough but they are well worth the effort. My family and friends love me for introducing them to the diet.

Most Successful Diet I've Ever Done!,

I have been on numerous diets, only to feel terrible while on them, and only to gain back my weight within months of going off of it. This diet has been absolutely amazing! I've lost about 50 pounds in 4 months, almost effortlessly! The diet is very well-balanced; you don't cut any major food group (e.g., carbs). The portion sizes are a little hard to adjust to, and I found myself frequently hungry, but I adapted quickly. The exercise you must do is merely taking a moderate walk after two of your meals. I didn't even do the weight routine he suggests and still lost! The only drawback to this diet is that it takes a LOT of preparation time to make the recipes. There is also a great section on the psychology of weight loss and body image, which includes advice on how to avoid going off the diet. I highly recommend this book!

This is an excellent diet for people who have plenty of time to prepare the menus and have the time during their day to get out and walk!! I am a busy executive who has only one time a day to get in a workout, and absolutely no extra time for the food preparation (especially the lunch menus) --the menus are a bit unusual, in that most are not available in restaurants, and therefore most times you are forced to bring your lunch (which again requires some preparation)!! Again, being in the business world doesn't allow for a lot of the necessary preparation. I have used his "Hilton Head Diet" a few years ago & it was very successful. Try it if you have the time!

This diet doesn't feel like a diet. In the first 4 days, I lost 8 pounds. It has been 3 weeks and 12 pounds later. I have not lost so much weight, but have lost 10 3/4 inches. WOW!!! This book is perfect for us folks over 35 who need to lose a few pounds or a lot. I'm still at it and love it. The menus are great for those of us who are picky eaters. It is easy to substitute other items if you don't like something. I definately recommend this book.

Eighteen years ago I took the "Hilton Head Metabolism Diet" and lost 38 lbs. in six weeks. I made the mistake of not completing the diet by sticking to the maintenance plan, and not exercising on a regular basis; thus I gained a great deal of that weight back. During the course of my regular medical check up, it was noted that my cholesterol level had risen to 207. I decided to go back on the diet and this time I would complete it. I bought the "Hilton Head over 35 Diet" this time, and 10 weeks later I went from 200 lbs. to 164, but best of all I had lowered my cholesterol level from 207 to 119. The worse part is I had to buy a bunch of new clothes, but The diet is a winner in my opinion. This time, I promised myself to COMPLETE IT! By the way, my wife also went on the same diet and has lost 32 lbs. and is only 8 lbs. from her goal.

I had used Miller's Metabolism diet back in my twenties and had great success. I also felt so much better in a daily basis. Now, well past my mid-thirties I am having great success once again now following his "Over-35" book. I find that following his recommended eating habits is easy and I plan on adopting these eating habits for good. Once again, I am feeling so much better with salt and processed sugar mostly out of my diet. Even if you can't follow these menus exactly (which I don't), if you follow his overall plan for types of foods to eat and when, you will have success. But most importantly, you must walk!

I started out on the original Hilton Head Metabolism Diet when a friend had suggested the Over-35. I was following the original diet and doing quite well with it. When I looked at the Over-35 diet I wasn't sure if it would be a good fit for me because it seemed a little harder to follow. But I have lost a total of 36 pounds and still have 15 to go. This diet is not for everyone but it has been the best and most successful for me. If you stick with it and stay focused you will succeed with this diet!!!!

I lost 16lbs. & 27inches in 1996 by exercising & 1200 cal. diet I quit too soon and gained the weight back but kept inches off by exercise alone. I guess you would call it a plateau. I started this diet on Mon. & lost 4 lbs. in 3 days., wow. I do not like fish and get tired of chicken. I've tried the menu thus far & it is really flushing out my system. Recipes are good and if I think they are too complicated and nobody else wants them I am using the frozen variety. Same results, they work. How hard can that be. If I'm too hungry I'll adjust the protein because I go to the gym 5 days a week.

I think the book is interesting but there are much easier methods to use to lose weight. I ending up trying something else and lost 10 lbs the first month. This book is too detailed of a process for me....takes too much energy. I ended up just reducing my food to 1200 calories and working out.....I used lean cuisines to help with that reduction.
