5.0 out of 5 stars Neue Deutsche Härte!!!
There is an on-going (r)evolution in Germany with respect to Industrial-Metal Music. In America where we seem to be languishing in an over-abundance of Rap-Metal hybrids; across the Atlantic, Metal is being given new life and MEGAHERZ scores heavily with their latest effort - "Himmelfahrt". 3.0 out of 5 stars I can't bash this band cuz this is good music, but.........
I hate to down other reviewers reviews but i got 2 of Megaherz's albums 4 or so months ago and i was very dissapointed. I was hearing good rumors so i foolishly chose to listen and act upon them. I gotta admit though, they aren't bad, there are a couple of songs on Himmelfahrt and Kopfschuss (the 2 albums i bought) have their own original sound to them.
I must admit...

5.0 out of 5 stars Neue Deutsche Härte!!!, March 9, 2000

There is an on-going (r)evolution in Germany with respect to Industrial-Metal Music. In America where we seem to be languishing in an over-abundance of Rap-Metal hybrids; across the Atlantic, Metal is being given new life and MEGAHERZ scores heavily with their latest effort - "Himmelfahrt". From the opening track ("Du Oder Ich"), the music slaps you in the face and continues to rumble and roar throughout each track that follows. The title track ("Himmelfahrt") is next, and its beauty and majestry is unsurpassed. The third track ("Showdown") may lead you to believe that an "English" song has somehow entered into the fray - but this is NOT the case! All lyrics are in German which serves as a very helpful "tool" in emphasizing the hard-edged style of MEGAHERZ. There is a continued rumbling, pulsing energy that flows through the entire CD. If you are familiar with MEGAHERZ, this album will not disappoint! It is harder, heavier, and faster than ever before. If you are unfamiliar and curious, "Himmelfahrt" is an excellent starting point to introduce yourself to the band. Final thoughts......Noel's samples/keyboards are playful and poignant (the ending to "Menschmaschine" is perfect). X-tian's guitar riffs (even a "solo" here and there!) are thick, Wenz's bass growls angrily, Frank's drums are unrelenting, and Alexx's amazing vocal contributions all combine to produce a SOUND that will have you moving every body part, bouncing off walls, and stomping floors for a VERY long time! I HIGHLY recommend this CD!!!!!!!! "Kein angst, komm mit mir auf Himmelfahrt"........

4.0 out of 5 stars The next best thing to Rammstein, April 12, 2000

Hard, metallic, yet the rythm keeps flowing - Megaherz have no apparent weakness. This is an album for anyone who loves it hard and a little weird. The only reason why I spared the 5th star is the fact that Megaherz are still way too serious about themselves. They are among the best, so they could afford a more relaxed attitude. No need to prove yourself the way all these oh-so-extra-hard metal bands do.

However, the guys are starting to improve on that. Track 11 - Totet den DJ [Kill the DJ] has some of the ironic twist that has always set Rammstein apart from the crowd. If you intend to give European Metal a try, this album is a sure shot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure ecstasy, September 11, 2004
This review is from: Himmelfahrt (Audio CD)
Ive been a long time fan of Rammstein, Oomph!, and Megaherz but that IS BEYOND THE POINT. Let me just state here just because Rammstein and Megaherz are both German doesnt mean you MUST compare the two. People in Germany should not compare Rancid and Slipknot, or in a less extremist fashion, Korn and Metallica. They play different styles of music and thus should be evaluated independently of each other.

The thing I listen for in songs by Megaherz is their chorus, after hearing Kopfschuss I wanted more Herz aus Stein and Freiflug, lo and behold Megaherz releases Himmelfahrt. This cd and Herzwerk II are their more modern cd's, this being their first step in their new direction. Both have some very very nice tracks, the ones I like on Himmelfahrt being Himmelfahrt, Tanz auf dem Vulkan, Hurra wir Leben Noch, and Das Licht Am Ende Der Welt. Each of these tracks exude emotion, they are incredibly beautiful and uplifting songs. The vocals are extremely powerful and moving, the percussion and guitars pumping, and the electronics add a nice feel to the overall composition. In these songs Megaherz abandons their older style and heads in a new direction, more electronics and dancy music. There are also some harder, older styled songs like Oder Ich and Beiss Mich that have roots in their older cd's like most of Kopfschuss and Wer Bist Du. Understanding the lyrics is terribly important as it adds to the effect of the music. If you like melodic expressive songs as well as harder head bangin music you'll like Himmelfahrt.

As an aside, I must say, one of the main reasons I love Megaherz so much is the singer, Alexx. If you like what Megaherz has here in Himmelfahrt and Herzwerk II, I would advise you to go buy Eisbrecher ( band formed after Alexx and Noel left Megaherz ). In my opinion, Eisbrecher is just as good as or better than Megaherz at the moment, we'll have to see what the new Megaherz will produce in the coming months.

Well....GIBT MIR DIE HAND UND KOMM MIT MIR AUF HIMMELFAHRT.....
This record its simple the best choice of industrial rock behind the great Rammstein. Me as a Rammstein Die-Hard Fan, admit that these people try to mimic them on many features, but sometimes the sound more like and pure and original sound like any other.
When you get to hear ¨Das licht am ende der welt¨ and ¨Himmelfahrt¨ you¨ll notice that this band its simple worth your money. If you¨re a german rock fan you should make Megaherz cds part of your collection, because thy stand as tall as Rammstein, Scorpions, And OOMPH! Anyhow buy this cd and enjoy yourself with some good music and hearth-touching vibes.
ALSO LOOK FOR A BAND NAMED ¨SCHWEISSER¨ I PROMISE YOU¨LL LIKE IT

5.0 out of 5 stars Es machs dir wunderbar!, May 25, 2000
This review is from: Himmelfahrt (Audio CD)
While this album sounds great, it's the lyrics that win me over. Not as in-your-face as Rammstein (and without their poetry-in-vileness), Megaherz still stands apart from most. Best tracks: 3, 4, 6, 8, 9.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sie geben Rammstein einen lauf fur sein Geld!, August 20, 2001

For those of you who don't speak german, the title reads - "They give Rammstein a run for their money." I don't speak german very well so it may need to be interpreted for germans as well. Anyway, this CD is great. Very similar to Rammstein at times and very different at others. I'd say more melodic than Rammstein whatever that means. Nonetheless a great buy. Also, go to ... to purchase the album for ... less than it is advertised here. Amazon's gonna love me for that one. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best examples of german music, March 17, 2000

This review is from: Himmelfahrt (Audio CD)
This cd really in one of the best metal cds. The combination between industrial, techno and metal is the example of the new era of the metal. This cd rocks from the beginning to the end, the song "Du oder ich" ( You or I )in one of the best songs of Megaherz, Menschmachine, Windkind, Ruf mich an, Beiss mich, Toten den DJ and of course Himmelfahrt are really goood and strong. This cd is excellent. Rammstein and Megaherz are the kings of the new metal, and of course are germans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Neue Deutsche Herzlichkeit"!, March 16, 2000
This review is from: Himmelfahrt (Audio CD)
This is the initial CD single released in conjunction with the new MEGAHERZ Album, which showcases the title track "Himmelfahrt" (Journey to Heaven). There are 4 tracks on this single. Track 1 is the radio edit version. Track 2 is "Du oder Ich" (You or I) which is the exact same version that opens the "Himmelfahrt" Album. Track 3 is "Teufel" (Devil), which is from their "Kopfschuß" Album. The final track is the album version of "Himmelfahrt", with a running time of just over 6 minutes. This particular song is unbelievably dynamic, with its powerful message, massive rumbling beat, and pounding/pulsing "orchestration". The "samples" chosen which kick-in at around 3:23 into the song will make you want to jump on "board"! AHOY!

Killer album. It's hard to tell you what my favorite songs are, they are all good. If I have to choose favorites I guess I would choose the title track first "Himmelfahrt" then, Hurra wir Leben noch, Falsche Goetter, Menschmaschine, and Das Licht am Ende der Welt. This band is on the move! I had bought and reviewed one of their earlier albums and said they showed promise, well here it is! They have delivered. GREAT ALBUM MEGAHERZ! PRIMA!
