This review is from: Hints and Tips for Advanced Ukulele Players (Hawaiian Style) (Paperback)
I'm upset. I paid good money for this flimsy thing.
There is virtually nothing worthwhile in here---except for the padding in the back half of the book, consisting of ukulele chord charts. (But if you're online and playing a uke, you already have access to these in spades.) Here are some of the "advanced tips": you can "bend" notes by pulling the string! You can use a portion of a matchbook cover as a uke pick! Be choosy in purchasing your tape recording gear if you want to tape your playing. You can knock or tap on your uke for percussive effect, etc. In other words, this is stuff most folks already know how to do. The book's a disappointment, so I'm sending it back. No way I'd buy this if I'd had a chance to physically review it prior to purchase---I guess real life bookstores have this advantage over amazon. |
