Great stuff .. now released in USA as' Soul Men'..better price .

Excellent CD. Why not release this in the US? Despite all tracks being unreleased, they are great. Buyers will not be disappointed. However, I would shop around for the best price. I was lucky enough to find this import used.

Bottom line: Great CD - Essential for true fans of this historical group!

I bought this and was not disappointed. How much stuff do they have in the vaults? These guys were truly the supergroup of their time. They knew how to put their unique stamp on any cover tune. There are some real surprises on here - like The Letter and Downtown.

Booker T&the MG'S bring some Grooves here to Hits that were out during the time period&add there own touch to them."Your'e So Fine" is Happening here.I dig there takes on the songs here.

Absolutely essential! And their version of "Downtown" is a MUTHA...

"Hip Hits" is great! During recording sessions at Stax, there would very often be a few minutes left at the end of session and the MG's would sometimes take the opportunity to lay down a version of a current hit done in their own laid-back, funky style. Those songs never made it to the MG's albums that were released in the 60's, but they were saved and have finally seen the light of day on this collection. The recordings stretch from 1962-1967 or so. All are in the more earthy and less-jazzy style of the MG's pre-"Soul Limbo" albums. This album and "Hip Hug-Her" and "Soul Dressing" are the best albums from that early period.
