5.0 out of 5 stars Why is it that the best stuff is always an import?, January 16, 2009

This review is from: Hip Hop Bop (Audio CD)
Antonio Carlos Jobim was one of the top composers of the twentieth cantury. His original version of Aguas De Marco (Waters Of March) is one of music's towering achievements. Akiko teamed up with the U.K.'s Swing Out Sister for a cover of this song on Hip Pop Bop that is even better than Jobim's (!). This is reason enough to buy this album, even though it will cost you about forty bucks. The Japanese people have incredible taste in music, and perform it flawlessly when covering western music. It's a shame that Americans are happy with Beyonce and the like when there is incredible classic pop music being made elsewhere. The rest of this album is good too. Buy it!
