You know, if I hadn't bought a recent issue of Scratch magazine, I would've never known that this album exists. It's funny because I bought at least 7 copies of Hip Hop Forever Vol. II (in different formats). This joint dropped quietly (which is apparent from the lack of reviews) in late '06 and it's definitely a must have CD. While HHF2 (an album I rated a 4.5 but should've given a 5) was more boom bap and had a tougher edge, HHF3 is a little bit more smoothed out. There are some thumpin' tracks (like Big L's "Ebonics"), but the mellow joints get more spins this time around. Don't sleep though, it's definitely tight. Also, I thought the tribute to J Dilla (at the beginning of "Players" and then continues with two joints he produced) was on point.

Flaws? Forget about it. Like I said on the HHF2 review, it's a Jazzy Jeff album. I don't really need to say any more, but look at the track listing. You already know how Jeff gets down on the 1's and 2's. The decision should be easy.

Hip Hop Forever III is a worthy follow up to Hip Hop Forever II (a rarity in hip hop). Jazzy Jeff has been a favorite of mine since I first heard him back in '86. The tracks are effortlessly blended and the cuts and scratches are on point. I recommend making this album, as well as Hip Hop Forever II, a collection piece.

Standout Tracks: It's a compilation, Jeff expertly blends every song.

Since listening to Jazzy Jeff live at Union Square performing the "Transformer Scratch" back in 1986. (He's the D.J, I'm the Rapper).
Jazzy Jeff has enhanced many careers and is so under-rated as one of
the best D.J's in the business. Hip Hop Forever II & III are both masterfully put together. In a time when scratching, cutting, and two turntables are forgotten by a younger generation. Jazzy hits you with
priceless classics that only the truest Hip Hop fan could listen too
endlessly. Do your heart, mind, and soul a favor and get this album.
In fact, get both of them (Hip Hop Forever II & III).

I have been listening to Hip Hop for 23 years and it feels good to listen to an album straight through. All Mega Hits !!

Just like HHF2, there is a bonus CD that doesn't have all of the songs from disc 1. "Tear Sh** Up","Whatever You Say","Visualize", "Speed", "Runnin' ", "Fu** The Police", "Droppin' Science", "Mass Appeal", "Full Clip", and "Let's Get Dirty" were all left off of the bonus disc, but "Secrets Of The Sand" [Jay Dee Remix] and "Too Complex" were added though they're not on disc 1. Some people might take issue with that, but I don't because I pretty much expected it to happen again. But as far as flaws go? Forget about it. Like I said on the HHF2 review, it's a Jazzy Jeff album. I don't really need to say any more, but look at the track listing. You already know how Jeff gets down on the 1's and 2's.
