This review is from: Hip to the Javabean (Audio CD)
Neil Cicierega (or however you spell his name) is most commonly known for his ridiculously popular 'Potter Puppet Pals' series. However, he's also an accomplished musician, playing keyboards and keytars while singing about geeky oddities that fly right over most people's heads. "Hip To The Javabean" is just one of his albums, but it's actually three. His two previous albums, "Clown Circus" and "Live From The Haunted Candle Shop" are included as bonus mp3 content, IN ADDITION to the bonus mp3 tracks from this album...put simply, this album is loaded to the gills with music.

And what wonderfully weird music it is, too. Neil's style varies from scorching alt-rock ("I've Got Some Falling To Do", "Atomic Copper Claw") to geeky pop ("Sunbeam Light Show Flower Seed", "Telekinesis") to random experimental electronica ("What's In The Toaster?") among other things. The lyrics are either brilliant metaphors or nonsensical rants that somehow flow with the rhythm and rhyme. Regardless of how cryptic (or not) the lyrics are, they're incredibly memorable and fun to spout randomly at people.

TL;DR: Considering everything being offered on this disc, it's more than just worthwhile to pick up. Recommended for fans of They Might Be Giants, XTC and Devo.
