Not Bad For Hippy Food,
By The Amazin' Amazon Guy "Help Me I'm Too Cool!" (Turnersville, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hippy Gourmet - Wok Fried Rice and Wok Style Veggies at Bay-to-Breakers Race (DVD)
I'm not a vegetarian but I enjoyed this. The veggie rice they make on this DVD does have some unusual ingredients like asparagus and soy sauce, but not anything disgusting like earwigs. The wok stir-fry called for something called "bok choy" though, which sounds too much like over-the-top organic hippy food for a meat and potatoes guy like myself. The Bay to Breakers race thing is pretty strange though. I was in the San Francisco area when this show was being filmed so I saw some of the stuff people do in this race firsthand. Wow. They got really mad at me when I ate a tortilla they were tossing around. Well excuse me, but I was hungry! A naked guy (!) came up to me and said that my eating the tortilla was blasphemy to the Bay to Breakers tradition! A freakin' buck naked guy! If I still had the tortilla in my hand I would have stuck it in his you-know-what. After all that wouldn't have been too difficult to do with him walking around all bare-rumped and junk. I might just go back next year armed with a big bag of Fiery Habanero Doritos and go looking for that little unclad snot-nosed runt. Sorry, didn't mean to get off topic. The Hippy Gourmets make some decent natural foods and they know how to have a good time. If you don't have anything against good-natured health food folk and you like San Francisco, give this DVD a try. |
