Rarely do I ever just go on and on about a book as I read tons and our family/kids love to read as well, but this is the most precious book for young girls and their relationship to God you will EVER find. It is a WONDERFUL, WONDERFULLY touching book that is full of truth and may have you in tears as the love of God for your daughter just pours out of each page.

Each page is set up with God's letter from Him to her on the left side along with a verse, and her prayer in response on the right. There are quite a few pages and it is bound well and beautifully printed.

Perfect for reading at night to your child rather than just giving to them to read on their own, it's one-page 'chapters' are perfect for bedtime, or before prayers, or as a mother or dad devotional time with your child. My daughter actually asked me to read it with her at bedtime - Me reading the God portions and her the prayers in response.

You might worry that this is just another "Prncess-marketing gimmick book" to make money ala Disney, but that couldn't be farther from the truth! This is the meat of God's word and His desire to know your little girl...It will cause her to read the Bible and want to know God better. I too, worried a bit that it would follow that same, self-centered, "You are my princess" theme that we are always fighting against, but soon realised that this book offers many of it's own correctives to this kind of thinking. Good of the author to realise this and address it early on!

We are so looking forward to the boys version, "God's Mighty Warrior" that should be coming out soon by the same author. If you have boys it will probably be as good as this one! Buy it, read it, give tons of them away. It is easily the best $$ I have spent on a book in a long time.

His Mighty Warrior: A Treasure Map from Your King

Thank you Sheri for a wonderful book!!!

An invaluable tool to teach a girl to love the Word of God. Each section is a letter from God (the King) to his daughter (the princess). Each is based on a scripture that teaches about Godly character and ends with a prayer. I've found it a wonderful way to teach my daughter to understand God's Word and treasure it as well. A must-read for every true princess!

What a great book! Tell your little girl that she is God's little princess. NOT A PRETEND PRINCESS! We are all God's princesses! My twin girls love it, they are 6 years old. It's almost like a bible study for little girls. A++++

My 7 year old received this book as a gift at her birthday when she turned 6. We read some of it together for a while, and she enjoyed it then. Now she's 7 and can read on her own. We've started using this book as her self-read devo book for homeschooling, and she loves it even more now. At the end of each day, the kids have to tell me something they learned that day, and my daughter very often chooses something she learned from this book as her "impressive" tidbit. She reads one two-page spread each day, which includes a "letter" from the King to His little princess, and a prayer from her to Him. I've never been a big fan of written prayers that you just read--I always felt a prayer should come from your heart. But this book has helped win me over on that point. The prayers are well written, and help my daughter think about her relationship with God on a level that her typical, independent prayers don't usually reach. I love that the content of the letters and prayers encourage her to think of both her freedom in her relationship with God, and the responsibility that comes with being a Princess in the Kingdom of God. This book should definitely be in every little girl's library.

when my very girly girl daughter turned 5, I didn't want to have the typical Disney princess party. I had found this book at the MOPS (mothers of preschool) convention and it was perfect for my princess. I constructed a "God's princess" birthday party around the theme of this book. God is our King and we are his Princess. There is a letter on the 1st page 'from God' talking about a character trait He wants us to exhibit and how and why. Then on the page next to it is a prayer for the 'little princess' to pray to God about wanting to learn about that particular character trait! I love it!

My daughter asked Jesus one day if He would write her a letter. She was very distraught because she wanted to hear from Him. A few months later I found this book and it fit perfectly for her. She practices what characteristics a true princess of the true King has and she learns that true beauty is in her heart and how she acts as a princess of Jesus Christ. She will even seek forgiveness when she messes up. The book is a great source of security for a little girl who needs comfort in knowing her King loves her adn that she is beautiful to Him and His opinion matters above anyone else's.

My daughter has this book and we decided to give it to her best friend for her birthday. She loved it, took it to Brownie camp and now other Moms are asking about it, wanting it for their daughters. It is an excellent book covering real-life topics and giving Biblical answers to those issues. We love it!!

His Little Princess: Treasured Letters from Your King by Sheri Rose Shepherd is a book for young girls seeking companionship with God.

On one side of the page is a girl's written prayer, and on the opposite side is the letter back from God, addressing her concerns and listing a piece of scripture for reference. The topics of prayer include all the sorts of things that might go through a young girl's heart or that she might have concerns about, like what to wear, apologizing, disappointment, anger and temptation.

This is a touching book, although I think the illustrations speak to a younger girl than some of the passages do. When my 5 year old saw the front cover, she thought it was a story book for her, and given the illustration, that was what I expected too. What you find inside, though, is for an older girl of about 8 to 10 years old, although certainly these lessons should be taught before those ages.

This also is not a princess-y book like my daughter was hoping. Instead, the young girl is referred to as princess like God is referred to as the Father. Like a father would refer to his little girl. Not a fairy tale princess.

So while the cover of this book is a bit misleading about what is inside, as a mother and as someone who went through many of these childhood issues herself, I appreciate the wisdom in this book.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from Multnomah in exchange for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion here is my own.

His Little Princess: Treasured Letters from Your King by Sheri Rose Shepherd contains 50 letters written to little girls sharing what God might say to them if he was writing to them today. The concepts for each letter are based on scripture and are pretty sweet. The themes of the letters are great and they cover a lot of the things that girls need to know about who they are and how they should live because they are daughters of a king.

I was never really big into the whole princess scene but I know a lot of little girls are so this would be particularly great for little girls who love princesses. The pictures are cute and the design of the book is nice so that's great.

The one thing about the book that didn't make sense to me was the table of content. It lists all of the letter titles but doesn't have page numbers. Then the next two pages list all of the prayer responses to the letters and again no page numbers. I get why they would separate the two lists but the format makes it so that you have a list of the contents but it is totally unhelpful and kind-of perplexing. So for future editions that might be something to change.

I'm looking forward to reading these with my daughter as she gets bigger. I think the 3-5 year old age range will be perfect.

Note: I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

I really loves this book, but I have to be honest...my girls didn't really enjoy it as much as I did. It's very colorful and attractive, but it was missing something. I love the whole idea of putting letters together from God to His little princess. Such a treasure of truths to give to my girls. I this this is perfect for the ages of 4 or 5 and wonderful to use for them as a devotional time. For the younger age there isn't really anything to keep their attention like pictures...it was mainly just words and very colorful pages.

My oldest picked up the book for a little bit, but she didn't really make the connection of the letters. I think it would have been more helpful if there would have been pictures to help the girls connect what was being said.

Honestly I think this book is best held on by mom and used for devotional times with your daughters.
