5.0 out of 5 stars Is It Too Late To Revive Poodlemania?
When I try to think back what made me buy Mirror Stars (the Fab Poos 1978 debut), when it was first released all I can come up with is that I was working parttime at a radio station and I could buy records through the radio station for a couple bucks apiece. Whatever the reason, that album was constantly on my turntable for months. "Mirror Star" should have...

2.0 out of 5 stars Anna Rexia song
I have not had the privilege of hearing the whole CD but my favourite song is the Anna Rexia song...however, I cannot make out all the words for it. Could somebody help me out with the lyrics??
e-mail me at longhair82@yahoo.ca
But it is quite interesting...and a genius title for the song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is It Too Late To Revive Poodlemania?, December 29, 1999

When I try to think back what made me buy Mirror Stars (the Fab Poos 1978 debut), when it was first released all I can come up with is that I was working parttime at a radio station and I could buy records through the radio station for a couple bucks apiece. Whatever the reason, that album was constantly on my turntable for months. "Mirror Star" should have been a huge smash and "Work Shy" would have made a terrific follow-up single. Instead the band release one more album (Think Pink) and disappeared from the face of the earth!

Maybe the band was just to eclectic. This, after all, was during the punk explosion of the late seventies and lead singer/guitarist Tony De Meur was a bit too Buddy Holly-looking and violin/mandolin(? ) player Bobby Valentino looked too much like RUDOLPH Valentino. At any rate, the influences of the early-Who and Kinks clearly show on this CD's generous 21 tracks.

Buy and enjoy! (And think pink!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab Poos rock still rock on!, October 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: His Masters Choice (Audio CD)
With their quirky tongue in cheek humor, the Fab Poos failed to get the recognition they deserved in the late 70's and poor managment/record company probs led to their demise in late 1980. I saw the Poodles twice live and still won't forget how fab they were: Mirror stars indeed. Favorite cuts: B-Movies, Mr. Mike, Workshy - lead singer Tony DeMeur still performs in London in a band called Ronnie and the Rex - and a new CD is due out soon, called "Return of the Fabulous Poodle" - Let's hope some brilliant record company in the USA picks it up!! His Master's Choice is what you've got now to tide you over!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, April 10, 2002

This a greatest hits album of a band that should have hit the big time but never got there. There is something here for everyone. If you are into post-punk new wave then this is a cd for you. There is everything from rockabilly(Anna Rexia) to pop punk(Bionic Man) to Buddy Holly-esque love songs(You Wouldn't Listen) and even a little something for the good pop rocker in us all. I give this band and this album three thumbs up.

I love this CD! I think the band is incredible. I especially love Bob Suffolk's work on the piano on "Pinball Pinup," "When The Summer's Thru," and "Toy Town People." Everyone will love this band!

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the best pop rock ever!, November 30, 1999
This review is from: His Masters Choice (Audio CD)
I was very pleased to find this CD available on Amazon.com. The songs hold up very well. Clever tunes delivered with a fun punch. Amazing they didn't have any big hits, because there are quite a few candidates here. Great stuff!

Used to listen to the vinal release of Mirror Star in high school. Albums gone and I have been looking for this for a long time. Only downfalls are absence of "Roll Your Own "& "Tit Photographer Blues". I would highly rec this CD. Mirror Star is a classic. Hope that you too will learn all the words and sing along....

From memory... I seem to recall that John Entwhistle had something to do with the first (Mirror Star) LP. That was my incentive for buying it, It was one of the best albums I ever purchased from a then unknown band.. I also bought "Think Pink" which was not quite of the same class... but nonetheless worth the money.

Do yourself a favour and give them a listen.. I dont think you will be disappointed!

I saw the Fab Poo's open for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1979 in Louisville, Kentucky!!...And they kicked ass!..I had been listening to the first album on 8 track tape, just to date the period!..LOL!..They came on and tore the house down!..While they were doing a cover of "Purple Haze", the lighting pots, etc...burned out!!...The Poo's and Tom Petty played from there out with the lights out and only one spotlight!!!...True rock and roll!!!..The like's we will never see again!.."Damn The Torpedoes" had just been released, and Petty went on to fame with "Refugee"..A true show for one of my top 10!!..Rock on!

4.0 out of 5 stars Quack, November 1, 2002

WAhy did they stop making records? While this is their "master's choice" my favorite song "Any port in a storm" isn't on it" Other than that it is a great, although somewhat campy (which only adds to the charm) album

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutly Fabulous, November 2, 2000

The Fabulous Poodles were brought to my attention years ago by the new kid in town from the big city (Darren Phillips)."Tit Photographer Blues" was a source of great joy to us both. "Bionic Man" was a rocker with of all things a violin solo."Bike Blood,""Man With Money" and "Suicide Bridge" are all great pop rock songs. If you are looking for an off the charts album, from a band that should have made it. This is the one for you.
