Book Description

The ADA Chronicles: Book One

In an attempt to atone for his sins and find some solace, ADA Agent Gabriel Romero helps other Deviants in need. But with threats from both sides—Normals and the Deviants who despise them—he finds it harder and harder to outrun his ghosts, especially after a difficult mission to rescue twin brothers held at an enemy compound, where Gabriel meets Alexander Ryker. Gabriel finds his new charge unexpectedly attractive, and that’s a complication he does not want—one he thinks he doesn't deserve.

Despite the frosty reception from the stubborn agent who rescued him, sheltered telepath Alex feels an instant connection through the pain he sees in Gabriel's eyes, and he does everything he can to gain his attention. The realities he must face while mastering his ability are hard, but failing to learn to defend himself is not an option. Soon he'll need his newfound strength to convince Gabriel he deserves to live and love again.

His Salvation is the latest book in my search for a fantastic paranormal series. In this world there are the normals and the deviants. Normals are just what they sound like, normal humans. Deviants are people with special abilities. Nobody knows what causes them, nor can they predict who will develop an ability and thus become a deviant. Deviants are hunted by some normals who fear them as well as other deviants with hopes of controlling and harnessing their abilities. Most deviants are forced into hiding for fear of their lives if discovered.

The ADA, the Agency for Deviant Assistance, helps deviants learn to control their abilities as well as creating new identities and new lives in the hope that they can lead somewhat normal lives. I immediately liked this world. The idea of deviants vs. normal and deviants vs. corrupt deviants fascinated me. It was everything I was hoping for. Gabe is the leader of an ADA team sent in to rescue Alex and his twin brother from the facility in which they are being held prisoner. Gabe is tough and jaded while Alex is sweet and innocent. I loved the contrast between them and was excited because I saw how they could be great together.

Then I started to get irritated. The point of view kept switching from Alex to Gabe and then back to Alex. It was interesting at first but I got tired of reading the same sequence of events again, just from different perspective. I also lost interest in Alex about halfway through. The sweet innocence was cute at first, but once the action picked up, Alex moved into my "too stupid to live" category. I couldn't even like him by the end. I found myself hoping he would get killed in a battle. That pretty much destroyed any interest I had in the romance between Gabe and Alex.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it, loved it, loved it!!! December 4, 2012

OMG! I litarlly could not put this book down! It's just the kind of book I love, shy guy is rescued by handsome, closed-hearted guy... shy, determined guy falls for rescuer, slowly worms his way into rescuers heart, helping closed-hearted guy heal from a terrible event from his past. LOL! Really, this book is really good. The storyline is very, very good, and very well rounded. The action scenes had me inching to the edge of my seat, and the tender scenes had me mentally sighing in love. It's kinda similar to X-MEN where there are 'different' people walking this Earth, known as the Deviants, that have special powers such as Telepathy and Telekinetics. And there are the Normals, people that have no powers. The Deviants, once known of their powers, are constantly on the run from Normals that mean them harm. Gabe works for an agency that rescues Deviants that have been captured or on the run and takes them into hidding until they are able to train and take care of themselves where they are then relocated to try to live out "normal" lives. Alex and his twin Jason are captured by someone who turns/brainwashes Deviants to be part of his army. Gabe is sent in to rescue the two, and Alex is smitten from day one. Gabe who has had a terrible ordeal from his past has since shut down and closed off his heart to anyone dares enter. Alex is determined to find a way in.

Not much of a review (not really good at these) and doesn't do the book justice. It's just a really great read. I should say that yes it reminded me of X-MEN, but not to the point to where I was constantly comparing it to that. It was more of a 'oh okay, kinda like X-MEN' then the thought was gone, cause I was so engrossed in the great story I was reading... it is sooooo good! I'm sad it's over, and can't wait until the next one. I hope it's more about Gabe and Alex, but I'm sure it's gonna be a whole new couple, either way, I can't wait!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Liked it despite an irritating lead character September 21, 2013

I like the premise of the story - "Normals" and "Deviants". The Deviants are persecuted by Normals.

Alex and Gabriel meet when Gabriel and his team rescue Alex and his brother Jason who had been kidnapped because they are Deviants.

I plan to buy the next book in the series because I want to know what happens next even though I agree with another reviewer that Alex crossed into the "too stupid to live" category and eventually annoyed me so much it was difficult to care if he got a happy ever after ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars His Salvation is a Joyfully Reviewed Title May 5, 2013
By M. Nix
Evolution took a mighty side step and began giving a small percentage of the human population extraordinary skills or gifts. The world became split between the Normals and the so called Deviants. Prejudice and intolerance swung directly at the Deviant population.

Ironically it is a Normal, Bryan Sorenson who forms the ADA which rescues Deviants in danger. Small teams of Deviants, each with their own special talents are sent out to find victimized Deviants. Once found they are housed, healed, and taught to hide their gifts, protect themselves and then relocated into a new life. One such team is lead by Gabriel Romero; a Deviant who's every step is shadowed by guilt and grief. The night his twin died Gabe's heart turned to stone.

His team is sent to rescue powerful Deviant twins Alex and Jason Ryker from their worst enemy, one of their own kind who went bad. Something in Alex's green eyes, in his smile calls to Gabe, yet he chooses to ignore his feelings at every turn, whereas it's easy for everyone to see that Alex is completely smitten with the older man. Gossip and rumors confirm that the twins are still in danger of being reacquired by their enemy. Trying to keep Alex safe while still at arm's length is stretching Gabe's body and soul to the limit. Something is bound to give.

Redemption is proven with the love of a pure heart in His Salvation. Tension and drama go hand in hand with an all consuming romance as Gabe's heart is healed by Alex's faith in him. The world of Deviants and Normals is very well developed, intriguing throughout. His Salvation builds and builds, layer upon layer until the reader is bound and cannot put this masterful love story down. I Joyfully recommend His Salvation. The suspense will be waiting for Book 2.
