Warrior Master,

I loved this story. Right from the sample, I was hooked. I haven't read an historical romance in quite a while, and this one was just what I wanted- super hot, erotic sex, a good love story and some exciting action, and it takes place during my favorite time in history: England 1066 onward.
I especially loved the hero. Bonar is very possessive, dominating, and alpha male. He's a Norman warrior who claims Kiana as his war prize. And in the way of men, victors and conquerors during the Norman Conquest, Saxon women were part of the property siezed, a spoil of war, and so Kiana becomes his slave. I personally love the sex-slave and captive themes in erotica and erotic romance. I love when the man-woman relationship is reduced to its most primitive components, to its most basic level. Of course, this subjugation is not to everyone's taste, but to me it is very satisfying. And in this story in particular, the heroine is not the only one to submit. Just as she is at his mercy, he too is at hers. Bonar would risk everything to have her, would take punishment for her, would die for her. He must have her at all costs, and in this way Bonar is enslaved. The sex was pretty great. Very primal and erotic and so very hot. The guy just can't get any better in my eyes. He is powerful, commanding, formidable, and completely masterful. Sex on a warhorse- OMG. All the scenes are highly sensual and arousing. Loved all of it.

Rape fantasy...not for me.,

This story essentially starts out right in th middle of the action...no character development, nothing. If you like the idea of a rape fantasy, I think you might like it. I could not even read the rest of it...so my review is colored by that.

When I disagree with my partner one of the techniques he uses is to keep repeating the same point over and over with only the slightest variation, as in, that's incorrect! that's not true! that's not accurate! To my ears it all sounds the same. And the same goes with this book, repeating h's dilemna over and over: she doesn't want to be attracted to H but she is. He's dangerous but still appealing. She wants but she doesn't want. Blah, blah, blah. The first chapter was interesting. That was the free sample part and I unwisely took the bait. The second chapter was pure drudgery, like moving through quicksand. Plus the H was a tad thick witted--not pretty. I know the time frame we're dealing with here but I also think romances should have a little fantasy in them. I'm okay with the H being the only rational, gallant man in the country because dumb brutes are not appealing. Don't be fooled by the sample, this is a dud.
