This prayer book integrates Sacred Scripture meditations with the prayers of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. There are two Scriptural Chaplets: one chronicles Jesus’ Passion and the other features the Seven Penitential Psalms. The woodcuts of the 15th century Catholic artist, Albrecht Dürer, illustrate this book.

About the Author

Nearly a decade ago, after teaching a tenth grade CCD class which integrated the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary into the Bible Study course curriculum, Christine Haapala, the author, thought "What if there is a connection between the 150 Psalms and 150 Hail Marys of the Rosary?" In the Catechism of the Catholic Church this connection is explained as "Medieval piety in the West developed the prayer of the rosary as a popular substitute for the Liturgy of the Hours." (CCC 2678) Based on this inspiration, the author completed and, then, published her first book From Genesis to Revelation: Seven Scriptural Rosaries, Christendom Press, 1996. Her more recent Scriptural Rosary books are Speak, Lord, I am Listening (for Children, but adults love it as well) and The Suffering Servant's Courage (based on the virtue of Fortitude and Courage).

This book is a departure from her works of Scriptural Rosaries but she continues in the genre of using Sacred Scriptures verses to support meditation during prayer - in this case, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

I received this book and was really excited because I loved Christine Haapala other books so much. At first I was a little taken back because I have never really prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, I had always prayed the Most Holy Rosary. But I decided to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for nine days. Using this book as a guide and meditation tool, I, of course, was not disappointed. The selections from the scripture were spectacular, and the Lord Jesus's words being in red was a nice touch. The illustrations selections were also very moving. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to get closer in knowing the Lord Jesus Christ.
