when I was a child (I'm 61 now) my dad got hold of a record of readings by Stanley Holloway, probably because we had a record of "My Fair Lady". We listened to those readings for years, with the heavy North England accent, and the quaint expressions we'd never heard before, and memorized some of the expressions and they've become part of our family lexicon. "Albert and the Lion" and "Sam Gets Drummed Out" were two of our favorites, as well as "With 'er 'ead tucked underneath her arm" I'm trying now to explain these to my husband so thought I'd look it up and was delighted to find this CD. The songs I could do without but maybe I'll enjoy them. The readings are just plain hilarious. Good clean fun. An acquired taste. Not for the masses.
