Book Description

January 2002
From across the Scottish Highlands strides Cameron McKay, the last member of the once powerful Clan MacKay. Handsome, fearless, and determined, he is a man who catches the eye of many a woman.. yet he has but one goal--to find Meredith, last daughter of the Clan Munro..and force her to provide him with an heir.

When Cameron MacKay kidnaps Meredith from the gentle confines of the priory where she has sought refuge, he discovers that he is powerless to resist her tender beauty and is captivated by her bold bargaining for her freedom. And although she is the precious daughter of his sworn enemy, Cameron finds himself tempted to abandon his quest to bend her to his will.

Meredith had vowed long ago never to trust any man..for men and their ways cause pain to those they love. Her head told her not to give in to the dangerous desire she felt for Cameron; but her heart hoped that he had finally abandoned his wicked ways...

Setting: Scottish Highlands, early 1200s
Sensuality Rating: 7

Shortly before she is to take her nun's vows, Meredith Munro is kidnapped from the Connyridge Priory by a man who seems to hate her as much as he is determined to take her. Cameron MacKay, the last of a once powerful clan, burns with the need for revenge against the Clan Munro, whom he blames for the murder of his father and six brothers. As the beloved daughter of Red Angus Munro, Meredith is the perfect tool. Who better to provide the MacKays with an heir and a chance for their clan's survival but the only child of his worst enemy? But Cameron is surprised by the resistance he encounters in this one small woman, and reluctantly recognizes her incandescent beauty and plucky courage. The captor is soon captivated by his lovely prisoner. And together, Cameron and Meredith heal the wounds of memories too long suffered alone and reunite two clans wrapped in a blood feud for centuries. --Alison Trinkle --This text refers to the Mass Market Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a man. He's a mighty good man!!!!!!!, August 27, 2005

His Wicked Ways has a strong (but not obnoxious) heroine who is in no way ordinary, a back story which is compelling but doesn't get in the way of the love story, and of course a wonderful hero. Both the hero and the heroine have secrets of their own, which are slowly brought to light by the author, like layers being peeled from a (very good) onion. Meredith and Cameron were both wounded, intriguing, complex, wonderful characters. The action/suspense was fast-paced and thrilling. The setting was beautiful and exotic. The sex was HOT and perfect for the story. His Wicked Ways is a cut way above the typical historical romance. Wonderful love story, great characters with an emotionally scarred hero and strong but vulnerable heroine, unique setting, intriguing plot, edge-of-your-seat pacing, heart-tugging emotion, excellent writing, intense sensual love scenes, and a superb ending. This was just the kind of romance novel I love. Wonderful characters. Characters that seems real because they are not perfect-something most novels like this lack.

This book had everything you need to create a good romance: a dashing hero, a beautiful heroine and, most of all...PASSION! Samantha James developed Meredith and Cameron's personalities and motivations very convincingly, to the point where you feel as though you know them well enough to be friends by the time you finish the book. His Wicked Ways was an emotional roller coaster, and I felt all the pain and joy they did. I was so engrossed, I read it in a day. The love scenes are ample & steamy, and the plot is a good one. A fast paced book with an intricate plot that I cannot help but enjoy. His Wicked Ways is a cut way above the typical historical romance.

It's true that this books name is not very fitting. The hero is not wicked. But it still is a wonderful book. A sweet passionate love story. I wish my husband was more like Cameron.

3.0 out of 5 stars A slow read in the beginning that picks up speed., January 30, 2000
By A Customer
This book didn't capture my interest as fast as the author's other books. The first 150 or so seemed to go by slowly, but once the characters arrive at his castle, that's when the action begins. The setting is filled with suspicion and betrayal, because the two main characters' families have been feuding for about one hundred years, yet no one knows why. I like the way the author created the bond between Meredith and Cameron's sister-in-law, and also with the other women in the castle. I also like the way she developed the love and trust between the two main characters. I look forward to reading more books from her in the future.

This was a very good book. The story line was about a girl who retreats to the convent to avoid her rapist and it was handled very well.Meredith and Camerons' love for each other builds slowly and deepens until you can almost feel it. This book was a pleasure to read and I couldn't put it down until it was finished. Ms. James is definately an excellant author.
