Ben Danvers is in danger of losing the family owned Reed's Orchard, because of the quirky terms of his grandfather's will. He must be married in 21 days or the orchard will be auctioned off. Chelsea Carson, the Office Manager of the orchard, has a solution to his problem with strings attached. The description of the scenes and dialogue leading up to the offered solution to Ben made me feel the tension between the two of them. And what horrible memories caused Chelsea to set the conditions she did? I really enjoyed getting to know Chelsea and Ben. His Aunt May is a hoot! The characters are well developed and their strengths and weaknesses are slowly revealed as they share past experiences. Join them on their seesaw of emotions as they deal with her being his wife for a while... or longer.

I am quickly becoming a groupie of Donna Fasano. She seems to have a magical ability to make her characters and plots believable even in this cynical unromantic modern age. This book has an old fashioned feel to it while still being a contemporary romance.

There is more to this book than just romance though as the story delves into a very difficult subject. I found myself crying while reading Chelsea's story. It is a story of romance but also of how, with the help of others, we can overcome tragedy.

I am not much of a romance reader, but Donna Fasano has the ability to reach out and grab me and takes me on a fun journey into the world of romance writing. I enjoy the way she tells a story and feel her characters are so real that you feel they could be your next door neighbors. His Wife for a While was very enjoyable and I couldn't put it down. Donna Fasano has become one of my favorite authors and I plan on reading anything she publishes.
