Horrible. Absolutely Horrible,

I am honestly floored that this book had any reviews over 2 stars. I had to review because I am genuinely worried someone else will buy this book. I'm not summarizing it here- just writing the review part.
There is next to no character development and we gain little insight into their feelings throughout the book except when it comes to how much they used to love each other. They're being hunted by evil people and apparently that is the time for him to begin to remember how great they were together. And then they go BACK into danger after narrowly escaping and they think more about how sexy the other is. They were both incredibly stupid TSTL really, on numerous occasions. At one point the bad dudes are apparently somewhat in the vicinity of their hiding place so she decides she should sacrifice herself by making her presence known- however they're so far away they don't even see her! WT? Why would she just assume they're going to find her? There are numerous plot holes. She's been living as Frasyer's mistress for three years and, even though it's just for appearances sake, he NEVER sleeps with her. Supposedly he wanted to get back at Duncan for a childhood squabble and obviously the best way to do this would be to actually sleep with her! Another one- It turns out that her own father had actually maneuvered and tricked her and Frasyer so that she would become Frasyer's mistress. He, and another man, wanted to protect her and were worried a big secret about her would be discovered. However, no one suspected anything about this secret, and this was a VERY strong case of jumping the gun. Seriously- sending your daughter off to be a wicked man's whore because you think a secret that no one knows about will be revealed- that's ridiculous. And unfortunately that whole mistress thing is the main basis for the romantic storyline. Also- there's magic. There's no mention of this anywhere, but there's some brief bits of supernatural fluff in the form of these glowing necklaces that apparently only glow when true love is around or something. Finishing this book was a chore.

Great historical romance,
This review is from: His Woman (Zebra Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Three years ago Lady Isabel broke Duncan MacGruder's heart when she ended their engagement to become the Earl of Frayser's mistress. So she is the woman he really never wants to see again, but he promised her dying brother to keep her safe. What he doesn't know is that she didn't willingly end their relationship; it was the only way to save her father. She still loves him, but will those two have a second chance for their love or are the intrigues around them stronger?
With HIS WOMAN, Ms. Cosby has written another intriguing and absolutely spellbinding novel. She takes her readers on a journey back in time to Medieval Scotland with all of the vivid details she writes about. Duncan is the perfect Highland warrior, strong and stubborn, but he has also a caring and soft side to him. At first the reader wants to wring Isabel's neck because of the way she made Duncan suffer when she ended her engagement. However, as soon as the reader gets to know her better you see behind the façade and see the reasons for her actions. Duncan is a man of honor who keeps his promise to Symon, Isabel's dying brother, no matter his hard feelings toward her. Both Isabel and Duncan are in for quite some surprises and dangers as the story goes on. HIS WOMAN is the sequel to HIS CAPTIVE and I can tell you that there will be more MacGruder stories. I can hardly wait to read them. Ms. Cosby is definitely an author to keep an eye on, especially if you like hunky and sexy Highlanders. Courtesy of Loveromances and more!

Diana Cosby continues the series to new Heights,

I just feel I have to share this with fellow readers of Diana Cosby--if you think His CaptiveHis Captive (Zebra Debut) was a lustful historical romp through Scotland's somewhat ancient past--you are really in for a wonderful wonderful surprise--with her newest book called His Woman--while they can be read separately with almost equal results--this new volume shows the direction and future of this new author to best advantage--there is little question that one day soon she will be up there with the greats of this gendre--
To be quite honest--I just couldn't put the novel down--hope she gets busy and does the next in the line so I can be up all night again finding the outcome of her wonderful storyline...Thank you Ms. Cosby for giving me a great night and adventure...keep writing and we all will keep reading...

I bought this book never having read any of Diana Cosby's books. It had all 5 star ratings when I purchased it, so I was expecting something pretty good. I was disappointed. I found the heroine to be tedious and the storyline fairly unbelievable.

Truely one of the best romance stories I have read in a long time. And trust me I read alot! (Probably about 3-4 books per week.) I hope that we will meet other characters in future books from Diana Cosby. This book two gets us up close and personal with the youngest of three brothers, Duncan MacGruder. The love of his life, Lady Isabel Adair is once lost, but events turn them back to one another. Great highland romance story. A must read!

Scottish Historical Romance,

His Woman by Diana Cosby
It has been three years since Lady Isabel Adair was forced to leave the man she loved. Her betrothed Knight, Duncan MacGruder believed she had left him for a man of wealth, but only her family and the nasty Earl of Frasyer knew the truth of why she had to leave the only man she would ever love. Her father was so deep in gambling debts, the only way to save him was to become Frasyer's mistress. She would always love Duncan, but now he thought her nothing more than a whore. As a vow to Symon, Isabel's brother, Duncan had to free Isabel from the Frasyer's dungeon. The moment her saw her all the old feelings rushed back ten fold, he knew she was untouchable but his heart felt otherwise. After freeing Isabel, she refused to go with him until she found the one thing that could prove her father's innocence, nearly risking their lives. During the days Isabel and Duncan spend together a little bit of truth leaks out about the past and why they were not wed, eventually all will come together... but it may be too late; especially when Frayser has Isabel back in his clutches. Love will conquer all things... right? Diana Cosby is a master-mind when it comes to writing Scottish Historical Romances. I loved the liveliness of the characters, the sex scenes were tasteful, not overdone, and the story just seemed to pass by so quickly that I couldn't believe I let a whole day go by! Ms. Cosby has just become an author that I will definitely look for in the future! 5 Hearts

Isabel and Duncan! ( I now have two hunky Scottish warriors that have completely swept me off my feet!) When I read His Captive and now with His Woman>
Great job MS Cosby- your characters are wonderfully written and your story line flows like water......... Although>>>>>after reading may Scot books lately-I do wish you had a bit more of the Burr in their conversations..... I am looking forward to Seathens story and most especially to Griffin's as soon as possible. PS-The magic of Grandma was perfect (no need for paranormal here!)

...Where to start? If you have never felt passion, pain, fire, the excitement of life, love, anticipation, then this is the book for you. If you like to read word after word, of never ending boredom, then this is the book for you. There was no fire,no passion, no anticipation of seeing the one you love. I will remember the author Diana J Cosby, just so I don't get another of her books. Very disappointed!

Reads as if written by a child. Plot is poor and story contains too much repetitive whinning by the characters.

This is the second book in the series by Diana Cosby. Loved the storyline. You dont have to read the first book in the series to like this book, but I recommend it. You will get more out of this book b/c you have already gotten to know the characters somewhat. This book has a little twist of magic in it as well, but it doesn't make it cheesy. Both hero and heroin have great charming characters. I personally really liked this book and in my opinion it's only downfall is that it is not completely historically accurate (which is something that I look for in Historical romance books), but it doesn't ruin the book in any way. I have the whole series, I couldn't put them down. This book was very exciting, there is a very strong element of danger, a lot of passion, and it was an overall fun read!
