Editorial Reviews

2011 album from the Swedish Metal outfit formed by ex-members of Norrsken. A group that stands for no boundaries, no limits at all. Playing all sorts of rockish music makes Graveyard stand out from the crowd. Be it Classic Rock, Blues, Jazz, Folk - you name it - the authentic quintet makes it sound real at any time. With wide influences spreading throughout different genres.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish more band were like Graveyard February 17, 2012
Format:Audio CD
If I write a full review I wouldn't be saying anything the other reviewers haven't already stated. These guys can go from fist pumping rock and roll to bluesy melodic soul with such fluidity it makes me wish I knew other bands that were of Graveyards caliber. This is the best CD I have heard in 10 years and maybe ever heard. Here's to hoping they come out with a third. If you are a fan of Clutch, Black Angels, Black Mountain, Wolf People, B.R.M.C., Black Sabbath or just good rock/blues-- you will love these guys. This album even has a track which sounds like a blues, psychedelic spaghetti western song--it makes me want to watch The Good The Bad and The Ugly and replay Red Dead Redemption again. These guys rock!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality album. BUY ONE, OR PLENTY OF THIS! December 7, 2011
Format:Audio CD
This album takes you back 30 years, I would imagine. (I'm only 25y)
Hisingen Blues is the album of the year(2011).

All the songs in the album are fantastic. The versatility of styles should inspire other artists because this is brilliant.

Buy the album because this will be a classic. Graveyard is much like Titanic was in the 1970s (great album from them, 'Eagle Rock').

If you've never heard of Graveyard, I would suggest you to listen "No Good, Mr. Holden" and "The Siren" which are my favorite songs from this album.

Graveyard is not stoner. It's pure Blues rock/Rock and Roll.

Other recommendations are:
Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - Blood Lust (2011, UK. One of my favorite albums)
Russian Circles - Enter (Instrumental only, but super good. 2006 USA)
Bombus - Bombus (2010, Sweden)
Blues Pills - Devil Man (2012, Sweden)
Brutus - Brutus (2011, Sweden)
Greenleaf - Agents of Ahriman (2007)
Soen - Cognitive (2012, this album has a similar sound to Tool. But a bit harder)
Rocket From The Tombs ‎- The Day The Earth Met The (2002, USA)
The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble - Here Be Dragons (2009, just a bloody brilliant album. One of the best albums ever.)
Zodiac - A Bit Of Devil (2012, Germany. Just a very good album. Vocal similar to the artist 'Everlast'.. weirdly. But sounds great.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great old-sounding hard rock/metal band September 18, 2012
By David
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I heard these guys on a mix album, and every time it came up I thought it was some old American band. I had to have it, so I got this album. These guys are European, and they perfectly emulate that hard rock/early metal vintage sound from the 70s! Well written songs with catchy hooks, nice vocals and guitars and drums. The recording quality is great - sounds like all vintage equipment was used. In the modern world of everything electronic, it's nice to have someone stand out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hisingen Blues July 18, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
This is a fantastic album. If you like Led Zepplin and classic Black Sabbath, you will like this album. I read a couple of reviews and thought that it might be too bluesy for my taste, but I bought it anyway, and now I think it's one the best albums I've bought in years. It's one of the few albums that I can listen to constantly, from beginning to end, without skipping tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars They're 2 for 2 September 4, 2011
By Thorin
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Upon walking in to a record store a couple of years ago, I couldn't help but think that the music they were playing on the PA was refreshingly awesome and in the simplest terms what rock should be. After two songs I asked who it was and bought Graveyard's first album.

I was extremely excited to hear about the release of their second album and it exceeded my expectations. One is instantly hit by various influences such as Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. It is undeniable that this is a revival of classic British metal sounds, with heavy riffs coupled with the clear influence of blues, while also drawing on the sounds of more contemporary bands and an eclectic spectrum of influence, such as old spaghetti westerns in 'Longing' and the obvious homage to Pink Floyd in the title 'Uncomfortably Numb'.

'Hisingen Blues' has shown a maturing of the band and once you play it once through, you won't be able to stop. One can only think that the next album will be even better.

It's best to listen to this very very loud.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rough 'n tumble March 9, 2013
By K. Geib
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
Great album to excite and strut your way down the road. Very easy to find yourself playing it on loop. I just love songs where the vocalist is just singing his lungs out. To draw comparisons to other artists I am familiar with, the album feels like The Black Angels, but more upbeat, and Comets on Fire but with a more comprehensive speed and delivery.
