"A Pathological Liar's View",
By J. Dassaro "Dassaro Imaging Photography" (Tennessee, USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: A Hispanic View: American Politics and the Politics of Immigration (Paperback)
As a 13 year veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol and former Union president of the Border Patrol Agent's union in San Diego, let me just say this book is very slanted and the chapter about the Border Patrol is virtually useless.
I faced off with Mr. Contreras a number of times. I was also the union official that published the website he mentions in his book (pg 270- now found at nbpc1613.org)and more specifically the incident concerning Congressman Darrell Issa. Mr. Contreras was not involved in that incident and the only knowledge he had regarding that event is what he either read on the website of read in the news. You would know that from reading the chapter. The fact is that Congressman Issa believed he could speed through a federal checkpoint simply based on the fact he was a Congressman. Both Issa and Contreras wanted the Border Patrol checkpoints shut down so they naturally fed off each other following the incident. Both are real losers in my book for that. Anyone who knows Mr. Contreras is cognizant of the fact that he is literally a pathological liar. Take for example claims regarding his military service that he even admits was in part fabricated. Given that kind of credibility gap, what value can this book have. Well, every book has value. And in that lies the answer.

Contreras broadcast on Feb. 10, 2004: "Only toothless hillbillie [sic]white males are too uneducated and too stupid to understand the point of my writings is that Mexican illegal aliens who sneak into gringo-occupied Mexican land are better than Whitey."

Everywhere we turn we see the word Hispanic; we hear the word Hispanic, yet few people know what a Hispanic is or what one thinks.Hispanic or Latino, which shall we use? Contreras defines Hispanic for all to understand; further, he defines Hispanic political thought like few people can or have. This collection of essays published over a period of years, most distributed by his syndicator, the New York Times Syndicate, tells us much about the fastest growing population among Americans. The collection of essays is stunning in scope. D.K. Christie

Horrible- inaccurate,

Raoul Contreras writes this very biased and racist book based on his own opinions- not based on fact. If you want to read the TRUTH about illegal immigration- read Frosty Wooldridge's new book: Immigration's Unarmed Invasion. |
