Great Guitar To Transport You to Latin America!!!,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hispanoamerica (Audio CD)
I first heard this recording a few years ago coming from speakers throughout a lovely home in the suburbs of Mexico City. What a perfect introduction to this most pleasing and energetic flamenco recording, which includes one of my favorite Mexican tunes, "Cielito Lindo!"Immediately upon returning from Mexico, I ordered three copies from Amazon.com, one for myself and two for gifts. I have never been disappointed in my decision. I like a variety of styles of guitar music, which is reflected in some of my other reviews, and this has become a CD that I play frequently; sometimes just to listen the exquisite playing, and at other times for background music. Paco de Lucia is one of the greats in the flamenco world. This is one of his earlier recordings, taken from three albums done in the late '60s and early '70s with his brother Ramon De Algeciras. On a few selections the production values reflect the period (slight distortion or tuning problems), but these minor shortcomings are far overshadowed by the mastery of the musicians, and the sheer joy of music they play. I love the simplicity of this CD: two guitars and occasional bongos. It goes well with the overall theme of "Hispanoamerica" and the songs assembled here. If you want to get musically tranported to Latin America, this recording will surely do it. Highly recommended.

Your ears will be pleased.,

This record contains hispano-american classics interpreted by Paco de Lucia. (as expected)I grew up listening to these songs played by my parents' old "vinyl-spinners". This record is instrumental, of course. Paco's guitar is very refreshing and light. Yet, crank that volume up a bit and his guitar will take you places! This CD will satisfy you in your quiet moods and your not-so quiet moods. Few artists can do that with the same song! My non hispanic friends, who were not familiar with the songs, also loved it. They always ask..."who's that on the player?". Your ears will be pleased. I am very happy with my purchase.

One Caveat,
By Leggo Ami (Richmond, VA USA) - See all my reviews

These are almost exactly the same songs heard on Dos Guitarras Flamencas en America Latina (1967), also with Ramon de Algecira. Is this a re-performance of (almost) the same material, or a repackaging of an earlier release?
This question needs to be answered. In either case, the music is fabulous, I just write to warn the cd purchaser that a very similar item lurks out there.
