Product Description

Augustin Hadelich has become one of the most respected and admired violinists of his generation. Two critically acclaimed and Billboard Classical chart-topping releases for AVIE, as well as a string of major debuts with the likes of the New York Philharmonic and Boston Symphony, have resulted in major media coverage in the New Yorker, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Philadelphia Inquirer as well as an ever-widening and adoring fan base. On Histoire du Tango, Augustin conjures a dark and sultry night of fiery, hot-blooded dancing alongside award-winning Spanish guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas.

I really believe Augustin Hadelich is the best virtuoso violinist on the stage today. In my opinion, he is unmatched in every area of skill and performance, and this new CD is his latest creative example! On this recording, he and Pablo Sainz Villegas have explored and transcribed works for violin/guitar, and this unique combination of instruments really puts this disc into a league of its own. I love the rhythms of the dance melodies they chose, which communicate to the listener a very happy and energizing feeling overall. But I also love the many totally gorgeous slower more romantic sounding pieces that tug on my heart and leave me hanging on every luscious note. The slower selections on this CD bring tears to my eyes with their passionate beauty.
Augustin is a rising star to watch, don't miss this chance to expose yourself to his rich and luxurious playing. He brings some classiness, beauty and creativity to everything he touches. I feel his playing is always very intimate and somehow speaks into my very soul, without using words.
I also highly recommend seeing him in concert if you can; the chance to see him perform, and to hear the beauty of his expression as he plays live takes it up a notch to a fuller experience even beyond what is possible on an audio recording. He stands out from the rest, and shines; he is truly a bright star, simply the best!

Augustin Hadelich is a wonderful violinist. My wife and I have heard him live three times. We will travel to hear him anytime he is within a day's drive. Each of his recordings has been outstanding. Now for something completely different, an overview of the world of Tango. It is pure enjoyment. He has flawless technique, an unequaled tone, and a musical soul.

Hadelich has become one of our favorite violinists. The combo of Villegas and Hadelich is just wonderful, lush and beautiful and great to listen to.

The interaction between the violin and guitar was fantastic. A great combo - complimenting one another brilliantly! Highly recommend it.
