I bough this textbook for a class I took and it was everything we needed. I am only a student and found it interesting and easy to follow.

This book is a wealth of information, so if that is what you're looking for, then great. On the other hand it really stinks as a teaching tool. The chapters are sometimes difficult to get through and tend to lump a great many rules all together until it becomes difficult for students to differentiate them. The exercises for each chapter are even worse - often referencing chapters from completely separate books and asking students to complete tasks they are not capable of completing based on what they learned in the book alone. In my opinion, it creates more confusion in the classroom than anything else. If you are a beginner in regards to linguistic history and transformation, or if you are teaching a class on the topic, please avoid this book - it is not for you.
