Editorial Reviews

Review

"Dr Kierszenbaum and the publishers must be heartily congratulated as this is indeed a wonderful and really a quite beautiful book. It brings together cell biology, histology and pathophysiology with some clinical correlations.
The diagrams are vivid, colourful and complement the informative and comprehensive text. All clinicians need to have a basic understanding of cell biology as this is where the future of medicine lies. This is a wonderful book for students of medicine at any level."
Declan O'Kane MD FRCP(UK), www.medexam.net
"The book is good all round. It seems very comprehensive in its coverage of normal histology, but it certainly goes much further: it has some simple explanations of physiology and some pathology...For the student interested in histology and in reading a little bit extra physiology, this is a useful textbook."
1st Year Medical Student, Dundee University
REVIEW OF THE LAST EDITION
"Virtually every key concept in the field of histology has been thoughtfully illustrated with a staggering level of detail...The visual presentation is simply outstanding...Dr. Kierszenbaum has not only succeeded in providing a valuable educational resource but has also raised the standard with regard to the use of graphics and photomicrographs within medical texts."

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent textbook for histology students, June 20, 2003
By A Customer
I would recommend this book for anyone taking histology in medical school or undergrad. I am a med student and found this book much easier to learn from compared to other textbooks I have read. The author writes in a fashion that enhances learning. The pictures are also very good and helped me to further visualize the types of epithlia. I studied from the following which is also on amazon.com:
Histology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers by Patrick Leonardi
This second book was so amazing because it had the kind of questions I saw on my histology exams. My study group and I used both these books and we all passed with ease and with less study time. Time is money. It's better to invest in a couple of excellent books than to take a $2500 class all over again. I give both books 6 stars!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for histology class, July 11, 2008
By
This review is from: Histology and Cell Biology: An Introduction to Pathology: With STUDENT CONSULT Online Access, 2e (Paperback)
The pictures were the selling point in this book. It did go a little too far in depth for my histology class at the time, talking about subunit x of protein y connects to this subunit in this way. However, it became more useful when I got to phys and path. The diagrams were everything, and they supplemented the text well. It did not have as many real microscopic pictures as Wheaters, but I found the drawings more useful than just staring at a light pink blob by a darker pink blob.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must have for Histology, November 27, 2006
This book is a wonderful resource for anyone that is in histology! Unlike other books, it does a great job of illustrating identifying characteristics of certian cells and tissues. It is very well written and easy to follow, but it is not an oversimplification or dumbed down at all. It is simply a great book!
