This book integrates language arts and social studies with motivating projects that take students from ancient times to the future and give them opportunities to present their research and thinking in a variety of ways, including stories, posters, plays, letters, speeches, brochures, and newspaper articles. Each attractive student page includes background information and/or samples along with detailed assignment guidelines. The book attempts to reach all types of learners and lets them creatively express themselves in writing, artistry, drama and many other areas. They work on each project either alone, with a partner, or in a small group.
This book presents lessons that begin in ancient civilizations and end in the future, with a strong emphasis on American history. Many of the lessons can be used or adapted to several different historical periods and present a varety of different options. All lessons require students to complete some kind of research, sometimes with a specified time frame, but more often than not, simply background information on the topic.
There are also clear directions for teachers to accompany each page, listing materials needed and the time in history that the project involves.
