I just received my copy yesterday and am very disappointed in the book. Columbus has a rich past and this book only barely scratches the surface and there is very little real information contained in it. There is no index which is a problem and means you have to search to find what you want. I did not find a single photo of the Ohio State Mental Hospital which was one of Columbus's most beautiful and historic buildings and a fine example of Kirkbride Architecture. I did not see a photo of the School for the Blind which I remember from my childhood as being also a beaufiful victorian building. The Brewery was a terrific building and I know there are wonderful photos of it in existance because I have seen them. It would have been grand to see a photo of Valley Dale which I remember from my high school days. Only one hospital is pictured and there are several historic ones. It is a book anyone could have done just by going to the Columbus Metropolitan library. It would have helped if the author had gone to some of the other resources for photos. It is all black and white which could be good but a section of antique postcards would have jazzed it up tremendously and showed some really clear photos of Columbus. I can appreciate the fact that the author spent time and created a book which will be interesting on a coffee table. It is sad to see that Columbus has destroyed most of it's truly historic buildings which could have been put to use as other cities have done.

I cannot wait to get my hands on this book. In our hose we are all history buffs and to get a more indepth view of our "cow-town" is a huge treat. I think this will be THE coffee table book all over Columbus. Anyone who has ever lived here would love to have a copy of it too, I'm sure. My Auntie lives in Lexington, KY and drools over old famly photos and all of the "this is what it used to look like" stuff. I know she's dying to get up here and look at how everything north of Morse Road has changed in 30 years!!! Send me my book!!! Enjoy it everyone!
