Incredible virtuoso, December 10, 2006

First of all, the sound quality on this 4-cd set is superb. More than likely, the performances were taped from broadcast radio. Disc 2 contains the entire legendary Moscow 1984 performance of Chopin No.1&2 concertos. Evgeny was only 12 years old and plays like a true maestro. My personal favorite is the Tchaikovsky No.1 which is magnificent and sublime on disc 1. The beauty of his talent is breathtaking. Disc 3 contains the wonderful Liszt & Schumann piano works and disc 4 is of course Chopin! For all the naysayers that do not appreciate Evgeny, they truly do not know their classical music. His technique is flawless and emotionally, he is a successor to Horowitz. I highly recommend this disc set for any piano lovers or Evgeny fans.
