In Gold Rush and Gun Fights we tour the places in which some of the historic events of the Old West took place. The first half of the video takes us to the restored structures and museums of Sacramento and the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in California. We also learn about the techniques used for mining gold as well as the three routes taken to the Gold Rush country. The last half of the video tours the towns and counties of the gun fighters which are located in Arizona and New Mexico. The Earp brothers and Billy the Kid are among the featured gun fighters. I use this video as a teaching tool during my unit on the Westward movement and have found it to be quite effective. Highly recommended.
