Having been a student of Dr. Caldwell's and owning a personally signed copy of this book, I can attest to the excellent information in this book as it gives an accurate history of Louisiana's unique culture, geography and people. Dr. Caldwell brought the book alive to his students and when he died in 1998, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana and thousands of his students suffered a terrible loss, but our lives, our school and our state were made richer with the contributions he made to the world.
