5.0 out of 5 stars My own little Action Hero!, September 22, 2007

I got Oscar Wilde as a Christmas gift, after unashamedly and blatently asking for it.

Now, I must review it:

To quote Oscar, "The only thing worse in the world than being talked about is not being talked about." Therefore, I will review this by stating that I love it, and that my life would be a shallow, empty place without it.

Now you know that you must have one as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars More...More...MORE!, January 13, 2009
By Baz Anderson (The Center, The Ring of Concepts) - See all my reviews
Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
I have really enjoyed reading the comments of those who are big fans of this action figure. I came across it by accident, but found myself drawn to this page again and again. Never before has an action figure made me feel the way that this one has. Strange stirrings that I never thought were possible arose upon my first viewing of the Oscar Wilde action figure. I imagined ordering the figure was certain giddy delight. I imagine the waiting patiently by my mailbox and finally being rewarded by the sight of a burly mailman carrying a deceptively small package; one that held a very special toy inside. It is strange that I imagine opening the package with an unprecedented gentleness, and opening the blister pack with great care so as not to jostle my new..... dare I call him.... "friend?"

Yes, I do dare! I can imagine removing sweet Oscar from his cardboard bed and placing him on my pillow to share with me a night of happy and star-filled dreams. Never before have I felt so free to be who I am - unashamedly and without fear. I can imagine wiling away many happy hours working on Oscar's various playsets; the dinner party playset, the gentleman's club playset, the *other* gentlemen's club playset, the court room, and finally the workhouse. It is in this final playset where my Oscar Wilde figure will write his greatest work "De Profundis" - an elegy to the beauty of suffering. If only the marketing geniuses who created this action figure had been visionary enough to foresee the needs of the consumer they might have saved me a bit of time and created all of these playsets themselves.

I weep tears of the wicked. I weep tears of those of us brave enough to purchase action figures that speak to real men and the men who love real men. I look forward to the day when the great "Love That Dare Not Speak It's Name" action figure line is announced. On that day I will be wearing my toga proudly, sitting in front of my computer being the first to order one of what is sure to be many action figures and playsets that only real men dare to order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift for any classic literature buff!, August 6, 2008
Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
Got this as a fun gift for my fiance (she's a big fan of Oscar Wilde) and she absolutely loves it. She proudly displays him on our book shelves in the packaging. As stated, there's a good bit of information on the back and the packaging is nice enough to keep him in. Great gift idea for any Wilde fan!
