Book Description

January 7, 2005
Most enjoyable and relaxing tales of roaming the Maine woodlands, Lawson begins with historical tales of flights out of the airport in Sanford where WWII pilots trained with water bombs found as he surveyed the heath. Commencing surveying in the early '60s, Lawson made notes of various tales he was told. Historical tales that he would later confirm, such as shapes for construction of new sailing vessels, King's Masts, and his purchase of compasses and chains used for surveying this land. He then adds in "hysterical tales" of his associates working with him, along with lawyers involved in his work. Lawson obtained deeds from Russia, Alaska, and the moon, among deeds and plans from many other countries, after a trip to Europe piqued his interest in foreign deeds.

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Charles E. Lawson, a retired Professional Land Surveyor, has an Associate Degree in Engineering - Architectural Construction, a Paralegal Certificate, is a retired Real Estate Agent, and previously wrote a book, Surveying Your Land-A Common Sense Guide to Surveys, Deeds and Title Searches, a book distributed throughout the world. Numerous letters were written praising Lawson in regards to that book-such as: "Bravo! It's great you've broken the 'mystic' ice about only a lawyer can interpret a land survey..." and "What a great idea to write a book on surveying! It is important as how to own a house..." and another letter, which Lawson has answered with this book, "Why hadn't you included some interesting tales about your joyous work of surveying, as you informed us of their importance?"

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book but sad news., May 21, 2009
This review is from: Historical & Hysterical Woodland Tales (Paperback)
I grew up with the Lawson family. As I read this book, it was almost as if Charlie was sitting next to me and telling the stories. Wonderful childhood memories flooded back as I read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever known Charlie because it captures so much of his personality.

Sadly, Charlie passed away last week. I will forever treasure this book.
