Its not the best - its the only one that does it!
Heitman's register is a must for any serious (by this I mean one who's interests extend beyond battles and weapons) student of the U.S. Army before 1900. The register has information on every regular army and all generals including promotions, assignments, awards, organization tables, lists of key officers etc.

Note Volume Number
It wasn't until I received the book that I became aware that the offering was for a second volume of a 2 volume set. Unfortunately, the information I required was in volume I. Please note that heading does not mention a volume number.

I received this item and after seeing it was volume 2 I ordered the other NABU PRESS offering (ISBN 9781177376808) assuming it to be
volume 1 of the set. Imagine my surprise when the actual text for the second item was the same. This print-on-demand publisher did manage to find a different copy of v. 2 to duplicate, but the result is the same: two copies of v 2 of Heitman's "Historical register and dictionary...." offered with different ISBNs. Perhaps Amazon should revise the product descriptions to specift the vol. number.

I also purchased this book and discovered that despite the title and description it is only Part III (volume 2) and not the entire title.

I assumed that this item was vol. 1 of a 2-v set after receiving the second volume using ISBN 9781144733832. Imagine my
surprise when the actual text for this item exactly duplicated the previous purchase. Don't be confused, both of these from NABU PRESS are for v.2. of Heitman's "Historical register and dictionary...." Perhaps Amazon should revise the description to add the vol. number |
