The Birth Of Television Advertising,
By
This review is from: History of Advertising General 1950 - 1970 (DVD)
This is a collectin of very interesting advertisments from the start of the television era. The best ads are the ones from the 1950s and I found the ones from the 60s to be a little bit too polished. There is no commentary track, so you can skip around and find the clips you like. It's all fairly well done and the selection is interesting.

Funny Comercials,

You know, I never know what to expect when I order older clips on the Internet. Time and time again I've bought clips only to have them overwhelmed by lots of pointless commentary that overlaps the ads and doesn't let me hear/see them in their original form.
For that reason, I'm giving this DVD 5 stars. You get the ads, the whole ads and nothing but the ads. Some are clearly better than others and some are just plain weird. I don't know about you, but I'm not sure any ad could convince me to pour tomato juice onto my morning ceral, but apartently at least one ad company thought it was a good idea. The smoking ads are the most thought provoking because they really did try to make people think cigs are healthy.

A Good Overview Of Ads,
By Arthur (America) - See all my reviews
This review is from: History of Advertising General 1950 - 1970 (DVD)
I enjoyed this broad overview of ads from a 20 year period. You get a good sense of how cultural attitudes have changed over the years - in other words you can tell that companies had to change their marketing approach with the times.
It was sort of a shock to see a televison ad for cigarettes - can you imagine seeing that today! What's also interesting is how many ads are similar to today's ads - cheerios are still marketed the same way. It's a good historical perspective on these ads - and doens't bog things down with a lot of boring commentary.

I have purchased several products from A2ZCDS in the past and as a student, I find that these are very helpful. If you are looking for a product to help get you through a project or a term paper, A2ZCDS provides just that. Plus, it is very convenient.
