I learned a lot from reading this book because I knew nothing about how African-Americans clung so strongly to the Baptist Church (especially along the southern atlantic coast).Within this book you will clearly understand how and why the National Baptist Convention splintered into so many different factions and how the Southern Baptist Church came to dissociate iself from it. A good read...and not too academic to boot.
