I had to drop out of school last semester because I had an pneumonia and when your sick like I was, you quickly get tired of sleeping only to wake up to paid programming and having nothing to read except your damn textbooks for stupid Gen Ed courses. Though I was ache, I had enough strenght to drag my bored butt to the computer to find some interesting books (I love to read-not a fan of TV or video games). Of all the books I looked at, I came to this cannibal book. Like most of you, I had never read a book about such a taboo topic, let alone a gruesome subject. I was at crossroad-do I dare go the dark side of human nature or take the safe route and get a history book. Looking at the used copies, I said to hell with it and purchases a relatively cheap book.

This books should be called "Cannibalism for Dummies" because its filled with so much information-the author talks about serial killers who practiced cannibalism, to ancient Incas, to even Mao's China where people were forced into cannibalsim becasue of famine. To make the book more chilling he adds first hand accounts of cannibalsim from people who witnessed or even performed it.

The author does such a great job pouring out his ideas and the history,it makes the book an easy read (I was done with this book during a weekend). Though this book is very informative, it will leave you craving more-two books I read after this were Hans Askenasy's "Cannibalism: From Sacrfice to Survival" and Garry Hogg's "Cannibalsim and Human Sacrifice" (this book is a real trip-most of the book is composed of letters and books written by missionaries during the 19th century who witnessed cannibalism)

In Conclusion: this book is awesome-if you want an easy read about a topic everyone avoids like the plague, you cant go wrong with this book-I'll say this, you will never eat BBQ ribs the same way after reading this book :P

It's a great book and definitely turns heads if you read it around anybody or have it as a coffee table book. Something so taboo, yet so interesting.
