only for specialists in the history of science,
This review is from: A History of Chemistry (Hardcover)
This book is written by scholars in the field of the history of chemistry, for scholars in the field. It critically examines widely held conceptions of the historical evolution of chemistry. For a specialist in the field it would probably be an interesting read. For laypersons (well, at least this layperson), it's a bore. There's no systematic attempt to describe the actual history, or to enliven it with interesting insights into the main protagonists and their discoveries.
