Elijah Muhammad (1897-1975; born as Elijah Robert Poole) led the Nation of Islam from 1934 until his death.

Here are some quotations from the book:

"I was born in Georgia, went to public school in Georgia and was never out of the state of Georgia, until I was 25 years of age. I married and had two children and moved to Detroit in April, 1923, from Macon, Georgia, where I worked for the Southern Railroad Company... Elijah Muhammed is both arrogant and gravely misinterpretting God's word. Muhammed was the final messanger of God, and Elijah is calling himself a messanger of God, so I would not hesitate to classify him as outside the Islamic Faith. God's servants must return to the pure teachings of the Qur'an.
