This is Bryson's brilliant book, fully illustrated, in hard cover, a real keeper. One I will keep on my shelf and turn to regularly. If I had this book in school I might have actually paid attention in science class and gotten better grades. The interesting stories about the characters that we call scientist provides a backdrop for describing the often odd and unexpected journey that humans have taken to gain our understanding of nearly everything we know ...so far.

I did not want to take away from the rating for this book so gave it five stars. I give the seller one star as this was sold as a new copy and I paid more than the original price of the book, however it was clearly a used version.

Get this. Read it, then read it again. Then give it to your kids and make them read it. I had read it before, but never the illustrated version. Bryson talks about so many people and places that it's very nice to finally put a face to those names.

This is one of my favorite books ever! Wish I had read something this interesting when I was considering a major in college. The seller delivered on the promise of a like-new book. I'm very pleased.
