My three year old LOVES fire trucks. I love this book -- detailed pictures of actual vehicles, with make and year. I have learned a lot, and my son loves that I can discuss fire trucks like an expert now.

Since he is three, he is still in the "scribble" stage -- so I make photocopies of the pictures and let him color those. An older child would probably love to color the trucks in the book - although the color palette is a little constrained. Mostly, I enjoy this book as a book of beautiful black and white illustrations, not a coloring book.

My grandson is 4 years old, crazy about firemen and fire engines, and one day asked me to get him a book on the history of fire engines. Being 4, I didn't think he'd appreciate a detailed history book with pictures and descriptions so I kept looking for something more age appropriate. I found this coloring book on Amazon and he thinks it's the greatest! He can't believe that the fire engines of today started out in so many different models. He laughed out loud at some of them, especially the old uniforms of the firemen and the horse drawn cart with only a water tank in the back. He wondered how the horses held the hoses to put out the fires! Well worth the price and the responses of my grandson.
