This is a very poorly written book that presents only nominal information. Although the book covers a large amount of history, it presents very limited detail and insights as to what was actually materializing in the Iberian Peninsula. I do not recommend this book to anyone. If you are looking for a well written, thorough book on spain, then look no further than William Phillips Jr's "A concise history of spain."

The book is in amazing condition and is fully loaded with useful info.
There were highlighter markings and writing but they helped in my studying experience, and made it easier for me.

If you are an American, your touchstone of European history is always England. For much of the world, Spain is the "old country". This book made me see Spain in the way I see England. I now have a better feel for the land and its people. A good popular history.

Avoid the chapter about today's Spain, given that this book is written back in the mid 1990s and lots have changed since then. For example, a new currency, Spain being one of the countries with more immigrant population in Europe when it used to be one with the lowest percentage, etc.
For the rest of the book, it refreshed my memory about all I learnt at school. As it states in the beginning, it's all an educaded spaniards know (or should know, given today's youngsters knowledge)about Spain's history. More than a history book it looks like a novel the way it's written, really helpful specially when you go throu some times with complicated combinations of names, battles, etc.

books on line for college classes. They are easy to find and this book was in excellent condition. A great value. |
