Easy and Informative Read,
By David Veenstra (Grand Rapids, MI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The History of Holland (The Greenwood Histories of the Modern Nations) (Hardcover)
Almost one third of this book is devoted to background, such as geography, econony, political system, and society. It is space and time well spent. The entire book reads quite easily, and I often had a hard time putting it down.

I've got the hard-back verion, and if you don't hold it carefully, pages can come unstuck (they're not hard to put back in, thou').
Quite a good history otherwise.

My husband was born in Rotterdam, left Holland for America when he was 8. He has always wanted to know more about the history of his birth country. This is a great book, filled with lots of facts. He was surprised for Christmas and has a read a bit each night. Great information!!
