Quintana won the American Book Award for "The History of Home". These poems recall places we have all known, transcending cultures to touch the longing space inside each of us. Short character-driven pieces, they reveal the rhythms of small town Chicano life in the fifties, the erotic imaginings of youth, and the desire to transcend it all--to become another, and in the end, to return, with gratitude, to those places we have lost.
