1.0 out of 5 stars Good Book - but Extremely Pedantic, November 1, 2010

Charles Saunders (Tallahassee, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A History of Inverse Probability: From Thomas Bayes to Karl Pearson (Sources and Studies in the History of Mathematics and Physical Sciences) (Hardcover)
Great book on the history of inverse probability if you are pretty good in French and Latin - otherwise you miss almost all of la Grange, Laplace, Poisson, Condorcet, etc. as the extensive quotes are from the original texts. I realize we are all supposed to know 18th century French but it's just that American thing getting in the way. I wonder if the author knew enough Russian to look at Kolmogorov?
