I make no bones abnout thae fact that I am a lefty, a socialist and also a union man.

I bought this and Volume 2 because I am also interested in both labor and American history.

This book is very well written and researched.
I have learned much and I would recommed it highly for those reasons.

Please do yourself a favor and read this great work (recommended by Howard Zinn); my only regret is that it covers only through 1930. Contains occasionally dull details, but it also strikes directly to the truth, and is a monument to the glory of the labor movement.
