A History of Modern Psychology

This book offers a comprehensive view into the world of modern psychology. As you read it, you will discover that learning about psychology's past paves the way for understanding psychology's present contribution to humanity. As you read about some of psychology's past and present contributors, you will come to see that they were and are very much like every one of us. You will read about their trials and tribulations in life - as well as - the many contributions they have made in the study of human and animal behavior.
This book also offers as a compliment to the reading an online Study Guide, which is an excellent source of information that contributes to a better understanding of the material in the text. I highly recommend that this book be used for those who have an interest in the history of modern psychology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Required reading can be a delight!, August 23, 2010
By
The course "History and Systems of Psychology" seemed less-than-thrilling and I was prepared to be bored out of my mind. For psych majors, however, it is a wonderful class and this book is pleasant reading material. It's easy to understand, full of cool tidbits, and surprisingly fun. It's one of the few textbooks I regret selling back - now I have to purchase it again (because it's worth it).

4.0 out of 5 stars matched the description exactly, October 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this book to accompany an online class. It helped immensely. The book was exactly what I expected from the description and it arrived earlier than I expected. You can not buy a used textbook from any school bookstore for less than $20.00. It was a great buy!

This review is from: A History of Modern Psychology (Hardcover)
The book is good, but still new to my college class associated with this book. Overall, its easy to understand and the dates associated with its history are explained, in laymens terms.

5.0 out of 5 stars History of Psych made fun!, March 11, 2009

Although I didn't choose this title on my own (it's a required textbook for class), I actually learned a lot. The writer's sometimes humorous style helps make a yawn-inducing topic much more readable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Goodwin is style is refreshing, informative and intresting., September 15, 1999
By A Customer
Professor of Stats used Goodwin. I thouroughly enjoyed his writing style. Those who study psychology will hear of the notable psychologist, Boring, well Goodwin makes reading and studing psychology anything but boring. His writing style is refreshing, uncluttered, direct, informative and intresting. I have read just the first chapters in Goodwin's history book. It too is just as readable as the stats book. I am looking forward to finishing this book. It is written so a person not studing psychology in school could read and understand it.
