1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, December 10, 2005
By
This review is from: The History Nut (Hardcover)
The History Nut begins with the interesting idea that Nate, who is born on the day of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, grows to be a history nut. His goal is to change history by altering America's past policies. He visits the past with his pet dog, Dexter, and his pet parrot, Splock. How they manage to time travel is poorly explained. Splock is a more richly drawn character than Nate. Splock's talent for making "splocks" our past presidents step in is likely to get more of a young reader's attention than any of history the book does include. Suggesting that this is a book for 4 to 8 year olds is inappropriate. Children in grades 4 through 8 might read this book for it's bathroom humor.
