About the Author

Darwin Patnode, Ph.D., is accredited as a Certified Professional Parliamentarian by the American Institute of Parliamentarians and, until his recent retirement, as a Professional Registered Parliamentarian by the National Association of Parliamentarians. He has served as president of AIP, as a member of Mensa, and as parliamentarian of several organizations. He is the author of Teaching Parliamentary Procedure and numerous articles. He is listed in Who’s Who in America.

This is a great little book on the history of parliamentary procedure. Too many people out there have some very bad ideas of what parliamentary procedure is and where it came from. The biggest howlers are the anti-parly pro types that try to claim that Henry Robert invited it, then try to put it down because he was a General, overlooking the facts that parliamentary procedure predated him not just by decades but by centuries.
