Book Description

March 2007 History of Psychology in Autobiography
The latest series takes readers through the personal and intellectual journeys of nine eminent people whose research has propelled the field of psychology into the 21st century. Each featured psychologist narrates how historical circumstances, collaborations, internal struggles, and public conflict led him or her to choose and develop various lines of research. Over the past 80 years, psychology has expanded from behavoirism and psychoanalysis into cognitive and social theories of learning and brain-based models of behavior and memory. Contributors to these volumes document their role in these and other movements, including personality theory and assessment and child development. Readers interested in applied psychology willl find valuable insights in authors' accounts of their involvemnents in diverse areas as education design, civil rights, courtroomtestimony, media policy and economics. Editors Gardner Lindzey and William M. Runyan have brought together a collection of essays that put a human face on the maturing science of psychology.

4.0 out of 5 stars History of Psych in Autobiography, February 19, 2008
This review is from: A History of Psychology in Autobiography, Vol. 9 (Hardcover)
I bought this book for a class I am taking and so far it has been a very comfortable read. It is written in a very personable manner making it easy and quick to read without a lot of technical interference or jargon. All in all I think this book is great way to get to know a bit about the people behind many of the theories in Psychology. I would recommend it for any one taking a History of Psychology class or any one interested in the influences that formed many psychological theories.
