This is a good movie that is good at describing the Dracula character and the evil deeds of Vlad. I highly recommend this movie to anyone that despises Vlad.

This documentary is about the supposed "real life of Dracula-" but somehow completely fails to analyze Dracula correctly. Dracula was a complex man who was brutal and terrifying to his enemies, but loving and fair to his own people. While the movie went into great detail about his brutality, there is no mention of many of the positive reforms that greatly benefited the peasantry.
Although entertaining, as a scholarly source on the TRUE nature of Dracula, this documentary fails to adequately represent Dracula.

To say that Vlad Teppish was a fair ruler would be almost equating him to the fact that Hitler made the trains run on time. He was a mad-man who relished violence, particularly torture, and this aspect about him was very helpful in keeping the Ottomans at bay. Even when imprisoned he enjoyed impaling rats. He solved the poverty problem by burning the impoverished to death. All of the illustrations we see today of Vlad eating among the impaled and such stem from Ottoman propaganda, ironically it is these prints that kept the memory of Dracula alive, making their way into the hands of Bram Stoker, and the rest is history. The History Channel is known for making excellent TV documentaries, and this is no exception. It is a fascinating look at a dynamic historical figure that can be watched several times over.
