Celebrating the ecstasies, and recognizing the abuses, of sex in space and time!

You cannot be reading this review unless you are the biological product of `some' sexual interaction between a man and a woman in your recent lineage. This lineage can be natural, i.e., by direct contact, or intermediate, e.g., by artificial insemination. These two processes do not limit the possibilities for our procreation.

In this 20-chapter volume, Richard Lewinsohn surveys the history of sexual mores, across distance (geography and customs) and time (civilizations and culture). This very readable book has been given to me [for free] by a shopkeeper at a local thrift-shop; and I am glad she did, as I would not have acquired this book, even if it were laying around for free.

Perhaps my attitude towards things sexual was due to my prudish upbringing and temperament, even though I have studied medicine and obstetrics/gynecology as a sub-discipline. It is one thing to study the anatomy and biology of human reproduction; it is quite another to read about, and graphically see, the lively interaction(s) between male and female, apart from which this reviewer would not be around.
