3.0 out of 5 stars Not as great as people said but it's a nice 80' Thrash!, February 2, 2006
By
This review is from: History of a Time to Come (Audio CD)
I heard lots of people saying this album is Great,
Someone label it as a Thrash Classic,
When I listen to it, I'm little bit disappointed,
It's a Good one but no classic in any way!
--------------------------------------------------

First, you gotta love Martin Walkyier's vocals,
He simply Kills!!!
Sharp, High Pitch, Brutal But sing all words clearly,
A very Unique Voice,

Only Chuck Schuldiner's vocals in Death - The Sound of Perseverance
sounds like him! [R.I.P. Chuck!]

and His Lyrics is based on some old tales,
which is very unique again in Thrash Metal,
and it's what people say the Folk element comes from!

The Production is alright,
Those guitar is not so Heavy and kind of Noisy!
But sounds nice when they bring out some nice fast riff!

A Cautionary Tale - A Fast opening song,
Good for Headbanging,
Nothing Special but sounds good! 4/5

Hosanna In Excelsis - Same as 1st track, but Better! 4.5/5

Behind The Crooked Cross - NOT A SLAYER COVER! 3/5

Horned Is The Hunter - Amazing and Beautiful Acoustic Guitar Intro
8mins song With some Good Riffs! Not my favorite one but vert nice! 3.5/5

I For An Eye - The Best song in this album,
Great Solo, Some Best Riff and Very Fast In The Middle of the song! 5/5

For Those Who Died - More Melodic than everything in this album,
sounds nice! 4/5

A Dad man's Robe - I'm not so into Thrash Metal Instrumental Song,
I only love the one from Sepultura 2nd album, Metallica Orion,
And The Day At Guyana of AGENT STEEL! 2.5/5

The Church Bizarre - Fast SOng, Nothing Special but nothing wrong with it! 3.5/5
-------------------------------------------------

I can't see why People say it's classic,

only the first two song,
I for An Eye and For Those Who Died sounds Great to me!

Their songwriting need some improve,
some song in this album can't catch my ears,
they need some more better riffs!

But Martin's Vocal is freaking Kills! \m/

It's still worth to check!
Since it's NOT easy to Get Dreamweaver,
History of a Time To Come is the easiest Sabbat Album to get!
So,
Get this and feel this Legendary Cult UK Thrash Band!

5.0 out of 5 stars folkin' thrash, January 20, 2004
By
This review is from: History of a Time to Come (Audio CD)
this is one of those records you look at and say...cover looks cool..i"ll but it!...i was blown away by this record from start to finish. great vocals, excellent riffs, only complaint was the drums were lost in the mix a bit. nevertheless. this is easily in my top ten metal cd's of all time. buy or die. too bad the next offering stunk. but, if you can find this..kudos. a true thrash classic with a touch of folk. still bangs heavy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal 80's Thrash!, November 4, 2006

When you think about 80's thrash you can't forget to mention Sabbat!
They were fast, raw and violent!!! This album is phenomenal!
I love every song on this album, but my favourite will always be:
"Cautionary Tale"
"Hosanna in Excelsis"
"Behind the crooked cross"
"I for an eye"
I'm so excited that htey will be touring UK with Cradle of Filth... maybe they'll think about a re-union!!
